Privacy Policy

As of November 11, 2016

The Transition Network, Inc. ("TTN" or "We") have created this privacy policy (“Privacy Policy”) to explain why we collect particular information and how we will protect your personal privacy within our Web Site.  The following discloses our information gathering and dissemination practices for the Web Sites located at www.thetransitionnetwork.com, www.thetransitionnetwork.org or any successor site or Web Sites used by our individual chapters (collectively, the "Web Site" or "Site").  From time to time, changes in law or in TTN’s business may require TTN to update this Privacy Policy.  We appreciate your use of the Site and respect your choice of whether to accept such changes. Upon each such change, you will be required to accept the modified version of this Privacy Policy before re-entering the Site.  If you do not accept all the terms and conditions of the modified version of this agreement, you will be unable to access TTN services.  TTN, in its sole discretion, may add, delete or change some or all of TTN’s service or the features of the Site at any time.

What Information We Collect and How We Use That Information:  TTN may include your name and email address on membership directory pages of its Site that may be accessed by active members of TTN.  We collect and share this information to facilitate communication and growth of TTN both within and between TTN chapters and to track the Services you have requested.

If you do not want your name and/or e-mail address listed in a Membership Directory that may be accessed by active members of TTN, or in areas of the website that may be accessible to the general public, You must e-mail info@thetransitionnetwork.org or write to the address listed below in the Contacting the Web Site section, with the phrase REMOVE NAME AND/OR E-MAIL in the subject line, including information sufficient to identify the Site where your name and/or e-mail address appears, in order to request that your name and/or e-mail address be removed.  If you request that your email address be removed, TTN will remove your email address and/or name from the publicly accessible page(s) within a reasonable time as determined by TTN in its sole discretion. Please note that, in some instances, removal of your email address and/or name from the publicly accessible Site may also prevent other members from seeing your e-mail address and/or name.

Contact Information:  Some areas of our Site request or require contact and other information.  During the registration process, we collect information such as your name, mailing address, and e-mail address (“Contact Information”). Your Contact Information will be used to administer the TTN mailing lists and provide you with mailings that you have requested.  Your Contact Information may also be used to get in touch with you when necessary with respect to services offered through the Site or for other internal purposes.  We will share your address(es) and phone number(s) with other members unless you make a request by e-mail in writing or via e-mail that we not share that data.   We may also share your Contact Information with the organizers of events that you have chosen to attend, providers of opportunities into which you have inquired, and affiliates of TTN from whom you have requested information, as necessary for such third parties to perform the services you have requested.

Authorized TTN Website Administrators:  Your Contact Information and any Content you provide to TTN or post on the Site, is viewable by Authorized TTN Website Administrators.  This may include local Chapter Administrators and Employees of TTN.  This access is required in order to provide you with TTN Services, and to manage the Site.

We do not share your contact information with any other third party without your consent, except to a court or governmental agency if required by law, as required by a court of competent jurisdiction or to the limited extent described below under "Certain Third Party Transactions".

Profile Information:  During the registration process, and at any time after registration, you will be given the opportunity to provide additional information about yourself such as your business associations, job titles and descriptions, personal interests, photos, skills, experience, age, work and family status.  This information will not be shared with other registered TTN members without your consent.  We may use this information in aggregated form to provide registered TTN members with statistical information about the overall community of TTN members.  We may also use this information to better target you with newsletters and opportunities that are geared towards members with your particular profile, or to track the success of our Site and services.  We will not share your profile information with any other third party without your consent.

Billing and Donation Information:  In the course of receiving your membership dues, payments for events, and any donations you choose to make, TTN will receive certain payment information, which may include, without limitation, checking account information.  We do not share any such information with any third party without your consent, except to a court or governmental agency if required by law, as required by a court of competent jurisdiction or to the limited extent described below under "Certain Third Party Transactions".

Certain Third Party Transactions:  We may disclose personal information to third parties we engage to provide services that involve data processing on our behalf.  Such third parties do not include advertisers or marketers that would contact or solicit you.  For example, we engage a third party to process credit card payments for registration fees, and will disclose billing information to such third party only as necessary for them to process such transactions.  We do not store, nor do we receive from our credit card processors, any credit card information, other than that required for refund processing which is limited to the transaction amount, transaction identification information and the last four digits of your card number.  We will only disclose personal information to such third parties provided that they adhere to the same restrictions regarding use of your personal information as are set forth in this Privacy Policy.
