The Giving Circle awarded its 2016 grant to New Leash on Life’s Second Chance Companion Dog Program, which uses positive reinforcement to teach life-changing skills to both female inmates and dogs at risk of euthanasia. Upon completion of the 12 week training program, every dog is adopted, and upon parole, each prisoner is connected with an employer who needs her New Leash skills.
Please join us to hear presentations from a woman currently in the program as well as:
Marian Marchese, CEO and New Leash Founder. Before launching New Leash, Marian created and was CEO of several advertising agencies whose clients included Fortune 500 companies. Horrified by what she observed as an animal shelter volunteer, Marian formed New Leash based on the idea that prisoners would benefit from teaching dogs from kill shelters skills that would save their lives
Rob Rosa, New Leash Associate Vice President of Operations. Previously the Shelter Manager for the Philadelphia Animal Care and Control team, Rob was responsible for over 34, 000 animals and more than 50 staff members and volunteers. Incarcerated at a young man, at the age of 16 he was labeled a career criminal. He turned his life around, and his leadership is instrumental in teaching New Leash inmates the skills needed to gain employment and improve their personal
