2019 7th Annual Cat Franciers Show
On August 25th a group of Boston ladies attended the 2019 7th Annual Cat Franciers Show. Some kitty holding was permitted and the costumes worn by cats and owners were really creative.
2019 Tucks Point Picnic
Members of the Boston Chapter had a fabulous time at their annual picnic at Tucks Point in Manchester by the Sea on June 30.
Downton Abbey Exhibit
June 22, 2019 members toured the Downton Abbey Exhibit in Boston. Original clothing and props from the show were displayed in several authentically recreated rooms. The exhibits wove together the history of the times with the incredible detailed presentation of the show. It was a multimedia experience and everyone enjoyed it tremendously. Of course, lunch followed.
Mount Auburn Cemetery Tour
On May 4, Boston Chapter Members gathered in the famous and historical Mount Auburn Cemetery for an interesting tour. The trees and flowers were fabulous and the stories of famous people and their quirks kept us well entertained.
Food Tour in the North End of Boston
On Saturday, June 1, a dozen TTN members enjoyed an incredibly fun and educational Food Tour in the North End of Boston. The many small shops were full of color and character, most family owned spanning several generations. The shop keepers were enthusiastic, friendly and authentic. We felt like we were spending a day in Italy, exploring down alleyways and small stairways to basements where fresh bread was baking. We learned so much about what to look for, healthiest food choices, best restaurants, while all the while tasted astonishing differences between simple natural foods and those we are accustomed to in our big supermarkets.
Peer Group Fun
The Metro North Peer group welcomed the summer and celebrated our birthdays with an ice cream sundae party. This was followed by an interesting discussion where we shared memories (and memorabilia) from our past. (including Barbie and Ken)
Behind the Scenes Aquarium Tour
On April 30, 2019 members of the Boston Chapter enjoyed a fascinating 'Behind the Scenes' Aquarium Tour. We learned about an eye surgery performed on an injured $10,000 fish. Anesthesia was administered via water taken into the gills. Many interesting tidbits about the care and feeding of the marine life. After viewing the fish, we headed to Legal Seafood to eat some fish!
2019 Red Carpet Event
Movie Goers hosted another Oscars Party on Academy Award Evening. Paparazzi were there to snap the glamorous starlets as they strutted their stuff on the Red Carpet. Ballots were cast, and the stars socialized over cocktails, a sit down dinner and a dessert buffet. Lots of laughs!
The Annual Summer Outing at Tucks Point in Manchester by the Sea
The Annual Summer Outing was held at breathtaking Tucks Point in Manchester by the Sea. The weather was picture perfect and the group of nearly 40 members and guests enjoyed kayaking, motor boating, sunning, and a delicious selection of potluck foods.
March 2019 On Resilience Signature Program
On March 9, the Boston Chapter presented a newly developed TTN signature program, "On Resilience", to a sold out group of members and guests. The half day workshop, facilitated by Ginny Kiefer and Marilyn Kucera, received rave reviews from attendees.
Volunteer Sig participated in 'Christmas in the City'
On Sunday, December 16, members of the Volunteer Sig participated in 'Christmas in the City'. 6,400 children and parents from Boston Area shelters were bused to the convention center for a holiday celebration including food, gifts, and an indoor carnival. Lots of happy faces on those children!
TWO THUMBS UP
The movie goers sig held a private screening at the home of Ginny kiefer. Festivities included lobster rolls and vichyssoise soup. Flavored popcorn during the private showing of “Bag of Marbles” and make your own ice cream sundaes after the movie. These critics gave the movie two thumbs up.
April 25. 2018 Boston Chapter Volunteer SIG - Cradles to Crayons
Boston Chapter's Volunteer Special Interest Group contributed their time at Cradles to Crayons on April 25, 2018. TTN'ers sorted toys at the organization's warehouse and afterwards had lunch together at The Stockyard Restaurant in downtown Boston. WaterFire Event
On Saturday, Sept 8 2018, twenty-five women from Boston TTN had an extraordinary evening out. A wonderful dinner at Cafe Nuovo was followed by an enchanted stroll down the river during 'WaterFire" an award-winning sculpture presented on the rivers of downtown Providence, RI. WaterFire’s over eighty sparkling bonfires, the fragrant scent of aromatic wood smoke, the flickering firelight on the arched bridges, the silhouettes of the fire-tenders passing by the flames, and the enchanting music from around the world engage all the senses and emotions of those who stroll the paths of Waterplace Park.
Winter Party
The Boston Chapter kicked off the New Year, and their Fifth Year Anniversary, with a fabulous winter party on Sunday January 26. The potluck spread was amazing and everyone had a wonderful afternoon!
September Aria SIG Gathering
On Sunday evening, September 15, the Aria group enjoyed a terrific intimate evening at Stellina's restaurant in Watertown where they were served a delicious 3 course gourmet meal while amazing artists from Opera-On-Tap performed songs from famous operas between each course.
Christmas in the City
Members of the boston chapter once again volunteered for the Christmas in the City Event, a party thrown for 6,000 kids and family members living in Boston area shelter. |
