POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Transition Network’s Executive Director is the most visible embodiment of the organization’s mission and the guardian of the TTN brand.  Reporting to the Board President and working in partnership with chapter leaders, the Executive Director fosters a spirit of active engagement and collaboration within the organization, continually enhances member experience, ensures the quality and effectiveness of operations, optimizes financial performance, and manages implementation of the strategic plan.
 

General Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership.  Works with chapter leaders and the Board of Directors to develop the organization’s strategic plan and put it into action. Measures performance against strategic objectives. Builds trust, inspires innovation and champions collaboration to enable the organization to thrive and continually improve its ability to achieve its purpose.  Tracks member satisfaction and anticipates future trends that are likely to have an impact on members’ interests and needs.

Brand Management, Marketing and PR.  Builds, measures and maintains the integrity of the TTN brand.  Serves as a thought leader, message creator and the organization’s primary spokesperson. Increases brand awareness by communicating TTN’s story through targeted marketing and media channels.  Acts as a liaison between TTN and external influencers, partners and alliances.

Fundraising.  Creates the conditions for fundraising success and raises money through a variety of funding sources.  Maintains relationships with donors.  Leads the Annual Appeal process.

Programs and Advocacy.  Sponsors signature programs and ensures their quality and effectiveness in achieving strategic outcomes.  Establishes and nurtures channels through which chapters can share programs and best practices with each other. 

Board Support.  Provides monthly reporting on financial results and performance against KPIs.  Works with the Board President and the Board of Directors to fulfill the Board’s governance function.

Chapter and National Member Support.  Facilitates collaboration throughout the organization and provides technical and strategic guidance to chapter leadership.  Works to continually improve the TTN member experience.

Financial Management.  Creates annual budgets and ensures the integrity of financial information and controls. Oversees the compilation of tax returns and manages audits.  Produces the annual report.

Operations Management.  Hires, supervises, motivates and develops the skills of national team members.  Ensures that systems (technology and human) are in place for effective communication, collaboration, document creation and record-keeping.  Ensures compliance with laws and regulations. 
 


Experience

  • Experience running a business with a geographically diverse member or customer base. 

  • A record of success in partnering with senior executive leadership.

  • A strong background in marketing and public relations, with hands-on knowledge of the latest tools and strategies.  Experience interacting with media outlets as a spokesperson. 

  • Knowledge of fundraising techniques and experience in major gift fundraising.

  • A college degree.  An advanced degree or credentials as a Certified Association Executive would be a plus.
