The Audubon Mural Project is an exciting effort to create murals of over 300 North American birds in the Upper Manhattan neighborhoods of Hamilton Heights and Washington Heights. . We will walk along Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue between 147th and 155th Streets to see murals in brilliant colors, painted on the walls and doors of buildings.

The great naturalist James John Audubon lived the last 10 years of his life in this area.

All of the birds painted are threatened by climate change, and the Audubon Project is designed not only to help us appreciate the beauty of the birds, and the skill of their artists, but also to make us aware of the challenges that these unique creatures face.

Our walk will end near the #1 subway stop at Broadway and 157th Street.

* Attendees can join fellow TTNers at Bo-No Trattoria, 3658 Broadway –near 151st, for (pay your own) lunch. *

Bring a water bottle, your camera, and binoculars, if you have them.

In case of extreme rain, our guide has offered a rain date of Wednesday, September 25th BUT rain showers will not stop the tour.
