The Bethany Mission for Colored People was founded in the mid-1850s and has been located at Brandywine Street in Philadelphia since 1869. According to its constitution, the Mission was to be non-denominational with the objective of "moral and religious education and general elevation of the Colored people by means of a Mission Sabbath School."
Our docent-led gallery tour will last for approximately 45 minutes and will be followed by time to further explore the art collection, and wide variety of antique radios, toasters, toys, banks, milk glass, signage, banners, posters and photography.  Following our gallery tour we’ll head right next door to the facility of the gallery’s partner organization, The Performance Garage, which serves as the home for dance in the Philadelphia arts community where we’ll meet its founding director, Jeanne Ruddy!
Registration, payments and cancellations* must be made by June 13, 2019. *No refunds will be given after this date.
