Built by suffragists, who sought to educate the public about women’s right to vote. Stuffed with overflowing audiences eager to learn they had the right to plan their family’s size. Constructed with perfect acoustics that denied the need for electronic amplification.
From Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger to vocalist Bob Dylan, some of the most-outstanding celebrities and authorities of their time have spoken or performed there. But wait: Why doesn’t the Town Hall have a back stage? How did millions of Americans experience New York’s Town Hall for 20 years without ever setting foot in New York? Learn the history of these mysteries as Town Hall Trustee Tom Wirtshafter guides you behind the scenes and tells the story of the most famous lecture hall in America.
After the event attendees can join fellow TTNers for (pay your own) lunch at a nearby restaurant.
PLEASE NOTE: Payments by check must be received 7 DAYS before the event, or registration will be cancelled.
