Many of the participants at the recent Women in Transition Workshop expressed an interest in continuing conversations about transition. One tool to help achieve this goal is a Hallmark feature of The Transition Network called the Transition Peer Group or TPG.

Transition peer groups are informal, shared leadership groups composed of 8-12 TTN members who meet on a monthly basis to engage in informal discussions. These groups provide a safe and supportive environment in which women may have thought-provoking and stimulating conversations relating to career or personal transitions.

Transition peer groups provide opportunities for connection, new friendships and mutually supportive exploration. The intention of these groups is for women to share and learn from each other, and while the groups are meant to create a supportive environment, they are neither support groups nor therapy groups and cannot substitute for professional help when a member may confront a personal life challenge and need special assistance.

Groups generate topics of mutual interest and relevance to their current lives. Discussion topics range from those that are light-hearted and fun to others that help members to define and think through their futures. Each group works to find a comfortable way to select topics and share the responsibilities that make a shared leadership group run smoothly. Every group has an experienced TTN partner to help them during the initial meetings or at any point where they feel they need re-direction.

Transition Peer Groups are a benefit of TTN membership.

Interested in finding out more? The TTN Steering Committee has set up information sessions, in three different areas so you can find out more about Transition Peer Groups.

Here are some questions you might have:

Does it matter which orientation meeting I attend?

No. Offering three meetings is designed to make it easier for people to attend.

Do I have to be an official member of TTN to participate in a TPG?

Everyone is welcome to come once or twice and check it out. However, to participate long term in Special Interest Groups and Transition Peer Groups, you need to be a member of the TTN chapter.

I am already a member of a TPG. Do I need to become a member of a new TPG?

No! The existing TPGs will continue to operate as they are now.

What if I can’t make an orientation meeting but I am still interested?

No problem! Please contact Jill Goski@; Eleni Skevas@; Cyndy Nelson@ or Grace Bartholet@
