A profile of the groundbreaking Wilma Mankiller, who overcame rampant sexism and personal challenges to emerge as the Cherokee Nation’s first woman Principal Chief in 1985. A stalwart activist for women's rights and civil rights hero in the 1960s, Mankiller led her tribe for years, creating a landmark sovereignty agreement with the U.S. government. Valerie Red-Horse Mohl tells Mankiller’s amazing story.
