Are you single? Are you married without children? Do you have adult children who live far away?  Is your extended family not a part of your daily life?  Yes, to any of these?  Then you are a Solo Ager.

If you believe you may be aging on your own at some future point, we invite you to attend this workshop and learn what to consider as you start to plan, weigh your options and make decisions to create a fulfilling life in the years ahead. Dr. Sara Geber will focus on: identifying what matters to you most; finding resources in lieu of family to provide what you need as you age; considering how and where you wish to live; and, in general, navigating your post-retirement life.

This interactive, mini-workshop will provide you with tools and resources to be your own best advocate in the years ahead and understand the steps to take in proactively building the life you want and deserve.  Although the topic is serious in nature, Dr. Geber's style is conversational and provocative. After attending this workshop, you will know how to begin to develop a plan which is not cast in stone but can remain flexible as the years unfold.

(The information and activities in this workshop are based on Sara’s new book, Essential Retirement Planning for Solo Agers. Sara defines a Solo Ager as anyone, single or married, who does not have children and those aging alone for any reason.)

Facilitator: Dr. Sara Zeff Geber

Dr. Sara Zeff Geber is a nationally-known expert in the field of planning for the next phase of life. Sara recognized early on that the baby boom generation would re-invent retirement in a very exciting way. It led her to found LifeEncore, a life planning and transition consultancy for Baby Boomers.

Since 2011, Sara has focused on Solo Agers— adults who are 50+ with no children, and those who are aging alone for other reasons.

Her recently-released book, Essential Retirement Planning for Solo Agers, sheds light on the challenge — to individuals and society — and offers a roadmap for their retirement planning.
