Have you ever considered combining travel and service?

Voluntourism is just that.

It involves traveling to a place, either domestic or international, and volunteering on projects. There are plenty of opportunities for volunteer projects in the US and abroad for people over 50 to participate in.
And you don’t have to be retired to do it!

Whether you want to volunteer by yourself or in a group, volunteering can be the adventure you crave while you reach out to help others in need.

There are Voluntourism programs out there for any individual, regardless of age, whether you want, for example, to teach English, to work with faith-based organizations, or to work with children or animals.

Come hear our panel of experts talk about Voluntouring:

Moderator: Phyllis Meissel, TTN member, inveterate traveler, and co-leader of the TTN Travel Mates SIG
 Panel:
John Dwyer, developed and operates the website www.over50andoverseas.com, a resource of international volunteering and travel opportunities for persons over 50 years of age.
Carly Ruberti, Program Advisor, Projects Abroad, one of the largest volunteer abroad organizations in the world
Kathy McShane, volunteered with Cross Cultural Solutions, an organization that places volunteers abroad to improve the health, education and economic opportunities for vulnerable women, children, & elderly.
The panel presentations will be followed by Q & A.

Packing for a voluntourism trip could have its challenges, especially if you want to continue your travel while in that location! An expert from Innovation Luggage will give a packing demonstration with practical tips how to do this job best.

After that, hear from the volunteers themselves!
We will break into smaller groups for discussion with TTN women who have done voluntouring. They will speak about their own experiences and answer any questions you have.
