The Transition Network

SOUTH FLORIDA Chapter Peer Groups

Peer groups are a members-only benefit.

TTN Peer Groups are limited to 8-12 participants and offer small interactive settings for
members to provide support to one another on transition issues, to build networks,
and/or pursue special interests.  They offer opportunities for small group discussions
and conversations about issues that women over 50 often encounter.

Peer group locations are listed to assist members
but do not restrict attendance by member residence location.
Non-members may attend a peer group once before joining TTN.

´╗┐Transition Peer Groups are an important benefit offered by TTN. The South Florida chapter has 6 active Transition Peer Groups, 3 in Broward County and 3 in Palm Beach County. Each group meets monthly. Meetings are usually 1.5 -2 hours in length.

Being in a Transition Peer Group allows members to discuss important issues and offers a unique opportunity to form vital friendships. We encourage all members to consider belonging to a Peer Group. There is no cost. Interested South Florida members can contact coordinators:

Susan for Palm Beach

Julie McGinty- for Broward

Our national website also has the Peer Group page for our Chapter.

Our chapter welcomes members of other chapters who visit Florida to join peer groups, especially part-time residents.

New York chapter members can contact Susan Cohen for more information.

Each winter, our chapter welcomes many members of the NYC chapter who join us as "Snowbirds."  The "Snowbirds" are women who reside in   the NYC area and also spend part of the winter/spring season in Florida. The group meets regularly in NYC from May - November and meets in Florida with our South Florida TTN chapter, December - April.  We are grateful to Susan Cohen who has served as the coordinator of the "Snowbirds " group for the last twelve years and has made our collaboration possible.

Susan has been involved with The New York City Transition Network since she retired as a guidance counselor from the NYC Department of   Education.  She has been in a variety of TTN peer groups and is currently in the  NYC Caring Collaborative and Finance Group.

The "snowbirds " cordially invite all of the South Florida TTN members to their activities which include a Holiday brunch and a variety of field trips   to museums, lunch, and the theatre.  Of course, we love to have them at our winter/spring events and  peer groups.  Together we have a good thing going!
