Welcome to the NEW YORK CITY Chapter
We are women “50 and forward” who are actively exploring the many new challenges, interests, and opportunities available to us. TTN is a national organization and New York, the flagship chapter, is over 700 members strong.
Even during these difficult times, TTN women are developing imaginative ways to be together and support each other virtually. We moved our cultural tours, informational and author events, workshops, peer groups and mingles to a virtual online experience that still keeps us together and supporting each other.
Susan, Linda, Nina & Cokie:
The Women Pioneers of NPR (National Public Radio)
Tuesday, June 29, 2021
Time: 7:00 PM
Join the TTN-NYC chapter for a very special event: a webinar about the history of the women pioneers of NPR (National Public Radio).
NYC chapter member Betty Rauch will moderate what is sure to be a fascinating discussion with Linda Wertheimer, Senior National Correspondent for NPR, and Lisa Napoli, author of the acclaimed new book Susan, Linda, Nina & Cokie: The Extraordinary Story of the Founding Mothers of NPR, a group biography of four beloved women (Susan Stamberg, Linda Wertheimer, Nina Totenberg and Cokie Roberts) who fought sexism, covered decades of American news, and whose voices defined NPR. It’s time for renewal. Through the challenges of the past year, TTN has been with us, keeping us connected, engaging us with fulfilling activities and lifting our spirits. Just as each of us are renewing and restarting, so is TTN NYC. Our all-volunteer organization is seeking “a few good women” to fill openings in key leadership positions.
In the articles that follow, Joyce Grossman highlights the benefits of becoming a TTN leader, drawing on the experiences of current and past leaders. Nancy Gold challenges us to think about situations when we are excluded and asks for our comments. Joan Menschenfreund writes an ode to the meaningful connections TTN women make, describing how friendships made by a group of outdoor diners will move into Spring. Learn how Sally Dougan turns flowers into art and check out her “In Case You Missed It.”Read the full article
