“Walking Manhattan Sideways – Side Street Businesses That Have Stood the Test of Time” – August 26

In this author talk – accompanied by color photos – Betsy Bober Polivy took us on her journey of walking the entire Manhattan grid – from 1st Street to 155th Street, talking with the owners of hundreds of small businesses along the 6+ year way! Betsy’s website is to learn even more. You can see from the comments below how much people enjoyed it.

"I loved it! Already bought two copies of the book."

"After Betsy's presentation, I had to buy both books. Totally mesmerizing."

"Find your author talks so interesting. My 70th birthday is in October. With my husband having health issues we cannot travel far. We live in South Jersey. So, we discussed last night coming to NYC. Thanks in advance for making the beginning of my 70's special."

"Delightful but sad to know how pandemic has impacted NYC."

"Great presentation and love the website and information"

"Wonderful talk. I had already purchased the book at my dry cleaners and so was particularly interested in hearing from the author"

"Fascinating talk, excellent speaker. My only suggestion would be to make the labels on the photos clearer, perhaps by using a typeface where the characters used are outlined in black."

"One of the best TTN events ever!!"

"I was very disappointed. Great photos but the first 35 minutes seemed like a long infomercial designed to get people to buy the book. If there was more of the promised content, i.e. more stories about some of the people she met, it should have come sooner."
  "Very interesting speaker."

"Great speaker! Wonderful photographs! Heartwarming stories!"
"I would love to go on one of the walks when they start up! My father had a business on w 58th street in the 50s and 60s."

"A very enjoyable book presentation by an impressive author. Ms. Polivy shared her unique endeavor which took place over 6 years. Really interesting and joyful."

"I thought the program was fabulous. I would like to get the book.

"Betsy was awesome. Exceptional webinar. Already bought 6 books for friends!"

Zoom Café: Has the Delta variant thrown you for a loop? – September 21

The topic centered on the Delta variant and included who’s doing what? And what not? At this point in time. A congenial and informative, session, as always.

TTN-NYC Chapter Member Sunday Trip to Governor’s Island – An Explore NYC Event – September 26

This sold-out Members Only tour couldn’t have picked a better day: sunny, bright and agreeably warm. Ater the fun trip on the GI Ferry, members lunched, and then explored the Island’s Historic District, and took in the beautiful views of Lower Manhattan.  Some stayed and saw more art and nature exhibits.

"The communication with the leader before the event was wonderful. The event was very well organized and went very smoothly. I enjoyed the outing and the company of the other women very much. Thanks to TTN for making it possible.”
