Wonder Women enjoying a fun day in Hyde Park!
September 4, 2018The Wonder Women peer group from northern New Jersey took a fun day trip to the Culinary Institute of America in early September.
The several restaurants at CIA are housed in a former mansion located on a large estate in Hyde Park, New York with beautiful grounds and gardens. The group enjoyed lunch in the American Bounty restaurant after browsing in the CIA's gift shop, which was filled with gadgets guaranteed to make any cook happy.
Following lunch, most of the group went a little farther up the Hudson to visit the Vanderbilt Mansion, a National Park Service site. Fifty bedrooms and 19 bathrooms made the mansion a cozy getaway for the Vanderbilts during the summer and at Christmas. When the family wanted to sell the house during the Depression for $350,000, they couldn't find a buyer so they donated it to the Park Service.
