Message from the executive director
December 18, 2017Today’s issue of Time Magazine honors “The Silence Breakers” as their 2017 Time Person of the Year. One word that comes to mind is “finally.”
As a women’s organization, TTN celebrates the continued potential of women to have an impact. We provide an opportunity for women to come together, enrich each other’s lives, and make a difference in our communities at a time when we are most vulnerable to being diminished or cast aside.
There are many role models out there of women who are changing the rules. They are speaking out on ageism, sexism, racism, homophobia, anti-Semitism and all the other –isms designed to exclude individuals or deny people’s rights. The women who are “breaking the silence” about sexual abuse are changing the rules in ways that will impact all of us and most importantly, our children and grandchildren.
Our mission statement describes TTN as a community of women “who continue to change the rules.” The movement inspires us to use our energy, experience and passion to make a difference.
