What's happening with the NJ Culture Mavens?

Attended by Rosemary Byrne, Judy Glick, Allyson Johnson, Cheryl Katzman, Susan Lilly, Gwynne McConkey, Sheila Molden, Miriam Rinn and Ellen Walsh, members were encouraged to organize a cultural activity of interest and send an open invitation to members of the group to join.
Suggestions covered a wide range of venues and the discussion was interesting and informative.

PBS: Jews on Broadway - a very interesting show
Netflix: Lilies a series on Ireland during the 1900s.

ABC: Salvation
TNT or TBS: Angie TriBeca - comedy with Peggy Lipton and Reshida Jones.
ShowTime: I am Dying Up Here- life of comics in 1970’s, terrific writing, a drama.
Hulu: A Handmaiden’s Tale - based on book by Margaret Atwood (a big Emmy winner).
HBO: Billions - with Damien Lewis and Paul Giamiatti
Netflix: The Crown - the second season begins in December.
HBO: The Night Of - Eight part series about a young Pakistani man ready to begin college who ends up caught in the criminal justice system.  Based on a British series with John Turturro - very engaging but can be difficult to watch.
AMC: Night Manager - spy story with Tom Huddleston and Hugh Laurie.
PBS:The Tunnel- Second season, murder mystery filmed in England and France; originally called the Bridge in Scandinavian; also an American version. 
FX/Amazon Prime: The Americans - last season after 7 years, true story of Russian spies in the 1980’s
Amazon: A Woman of Substance - about a spy at the West Bank border - with Maggie Gyllenhaal
4. FILMS
TEANECK INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL STARTING 11/3.  Theme is Making Change. Interesting film choices. Pass costs $35 to see as many films as you want during the festival. There is also the Montclair Film Festival.
Wind River: American murder mystery thriller film written and directed by Taylor Sheridan. Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen as a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service tracker and an FBI agent, respectively, who try to solve a murder on the Wind River Indian Reservation in Wyoming. Beautiful photography and haunting music.

The Norwegian by Derek Miller, 82-year-old Jewish American man moves to Norway to be with his daughter and becomes involved in a murder.
