NJ Chapter Visits Storm King Art Center

October 19, 2014

TTN’s North-Central NJ Chapter spent a glorious day on Oct. 19 at the Storm King Art Center and Sculpture Park in New Windsor, NY, about an hour north of New York City. The autumnal colors of the lower Hudson Valley provided a gorgeous backdrop to more than 100 carefully sited sculptures by some of the most acclaimed contemporary artists.
We kicked off the visit with a tram tour of the works, spread out over 500 acres of fields, hills and woodlands. Later, we had a highly informative docent tour of the property surrounding the museum building. The sculptors whose works are on view at Storm King include Louise Bourgeois, Alexander Calder, Mark di Suvero, Andy Goldsworthy, Zhang Huan, Alexander Liberman, Roy Lichtenstein, Maya Lin, Henry Moore, Louise Nevelson, Isamu Noguchi, Richard Serra and David Smith.

Storm King is a stunning, peaceful place. And of course, we wrapped up our visit with a late lunch at a local, farm-to-table cafe a short distance from Storm King.
