Mask-Making: Stitch Them Up!

(Posted April 1, 2020)

Last Saturday you received an email from Susan Collins, executive director of The Transition Network, announcing the TTN 2020 Challenge which calls on TTN members across the country to step up and make protective masks for health care professionals and others in need during the COVID-19 crisis.

TTN Philadelphia is taking this challenge head on and inviting every member who has a sewing machine to take part in the chapter effort.

There are many online videos and patterns with detailed instructions for assembly that you can use to construct the masks.  Here are just a few:  Deaconess Hospital, FreeSewing, Sew Face Masks Philadelphia.

Once you have made a quantity of masks, contact Sally Mazzarella who will arrange for pick-up in Center City or the suburbs and delivery to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center where masks are critically short and desperately wanted.

If you like, share your progress with photos to TTNPhiladelphia@gmail.com so the pictures may be posted on the TTN website to inspire others to follow your lead.

The urgency for this mask-making project is clear.  So get going and stitch them up!
