Private Walking Tour of Harlem – An Explore NYC Event – Nov 4

What a fascinating tour this was!

The group was led by Leigh Hallingby, licensed tour guide, who also led the earlier terrific Audubon Murals tour. Stops included the Schomburg Center, Murals Pavilion of Harlem Hospital (to see the restored WPA cycle of murals), the huge Dizzy Gillespie Murals, Striver’s Row, and the Abyssinian Baptist Church, among others. Wow!

Reviewing Medicare Coverage – Caring Collaborative Presentations – Nov 6 & 14

The Caring Collaborative presented their annual Medicare Review program two times this year, in partnership with Coming of Age at COA’s downtown facility. Our expert, Rae-Carole Fischer, led the sold-out audiences through all of the changes to Medicare coverage for 2020, as well as detailing what newcomers to the Medicare system needed to know begin coverage.

Better Balance for Life – A Caring Collaborative Presentation – Nov 6

Carol Clements led a lively and engaging presentation based on her best-selling book of the same title! She stressed that a fear of falling is a predictor of it, and that balance is a skill -- which can be developed through practice, like any other skill. Carol talked about the psychology and physiology of balance, and led the group in simple ways for practicing awareness and methods to develop strength and skill through simple activities at home.  Attendees were roundly invigorated by her presentation and their balance skill practice!

Private Tour of  57th Street Galleries – An Explore NYC Event – Nov 14

Another sold-out tour led by our own wonderful docent, Tina Weintraub. Attendees relished the opportunity to see what was new in the elegant galleries along 57th Street, and were well rewarded as usual by the wealth and diversity of the gallery offerings -- and Tina’s informed commentary on it all! You will want to sign up quickly for these Gallery tours, as they always sell out!

Online Welcome Orientation for New Members – Nov 15

Just a reminder that these informative monthly online sessions are not only great for new members, but are a super refresher for longer-term members, too. You may want to tune in next month. . .

Caring Collaborative Orientation – Nov 20

The latest orientation for new CC members was another well-attended session, with the newest CC members immediately entered into Neighborhood Groups. Do attend one of these friendly and informative meetings if you haven’t yet. CC is a wonderfully supportive community within TTN, and unique in NYC.

TTN Holiday Shopping Party – Nov 21

This annual party has become a staple in TTN-NYC’s holiday offerings. Held in a Member’s apartment, it offered an intimate setting to view an array of beautiful, reasonably priced jewelry, accessories, scarves and more for everyone on your holiday gift list – and of course, for yourselves.

Many new Members attended and enjoyed meeting each other and making new connections! An image consultant was also there to offer advice. Wine, cheese, etc. were on hand to add to the festive setting.
And 20% of proceeds went to TTN!
