Women’s History Walking Tour –  Explore NYC Event – June 4

This was a stirring tour viewing and reviewing the signal events and locations associated with the role of women and their influence in the political and cultural sphere from 1860 onwards. Primarily covering Greenwich Village it included the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory and its tragic fire, the residence of Emma Lazarus, as well as  sites associated with Eleanor Roosevelt, Edith Wharton, and more recent activists such as Joan Baez and Diane Arbus, etc.  Please sign up as soon as you see these tours listed as they sell out very quickly!

Trip to Governor’s Island –  Explore NYC Event – June 15

In what has become an annual event, this year’s Governor’s Island excursion was as delightful as ever. The weather was grand and provided fabulous views of lower Manhattan, as well as a lovely opportunity for TTNers to gather and enjoy the camaraderie, to see the ever-changing sights, the enjoyable picnicking at Nolan Park, as well as the music and dancing at the Jazz Age Lawn Party.

Don’t miss this terrific NYC event next time!

Mercado Little Spain Hudson Yards Tour – TTN-NYC Civic Action Event –June 19

The group visited Little Spain Mercado, the new Spanish-themed food hall operation, brainchild of Chef Jose Andres, famous for organizing World Central Kitchen to serve the survivors of natural disasters such as hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico, wildfires, etc. They combined their recognition of Chef Andres’ devotion to public service with the opportunity to check out all of the excitement around Hudson Yards, including visiting the famous Vessel.

Online Welcome Orientation for New Members – June 21

Once again, the very welcoming and informative online orientation for New Members provided excellent information about the wide-ranging opportunities and activities offered by TTN. This monthly orientation is also a useful refresher for longer-term members, too.

Caring Collaborative Orientation – June 26

The Caring Collaborative is a signature benefit of TTN-NYC membership, and unique in NYC for all the health-related reciprocal support it offers to members in service, information, and neighborhood group gatherings. The Orientation is required for CC participation and provides the simple ground rules for membership. If you are not a CC member, you are missing a significant benefit of the chapter.
