Rebuilding Together Philadelphia
As our chapter matures, we continue our efforts to CONNECT members with each other and help them DISCOVER all the opportunities that are available to them as they work through their own individual transitions.
Under the umbrella of Community Impact, TTN Philadelphia is focusing on three opportunities to make an IMPACT on our community. We already held several events in support of Career Wardrobe and the TTN Giving Circle is off to a roaring start.
Our third Community Impact venture will offer members a completely different experience - a chance for us to roll up our sleeves and donate time and effort to help those less fortunate.
Rebuilding Together Philadelphia (RTP), founded in 1988, is dedicated to improving homes and neighborhoods in Philadelphia. They bring volunteers into communities and provide the labor needed to do some home improvements that will enhance the quality of life for its residents. RTP primarily supports people with disabilities, veterans of the armed forces, multi-generational families, and low-income homeowners over 65.
This year, one of their key projects is the Mantua Block Build. They are targeting 15 homes which need improvements that will keep their owners safe, warm and dry.
So, how can you help?
On March 15 and March 23, we want to staff the Hospitality area with TTN volunteers. We will distribute t-shirts, food, and other support to the volunteers who are working on the homes. The work day is from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, broken into 3 or 4 hour shifts. It's a perfect opportunity for team building among TTN members or for a peer group to come out and work together to help our community. You can sign up for a single shift, an entire day or both days (which would be really great!). Of course, if you know how to swing a hammer, I'm sure RTP will be able to use that skill as well!
We all have our own favorite ways of giving back. This effort will give you an opportunity to really get into the game, alongside your TTN friends, to make a difference in the lives of people who need our help.
Please register now and then email Chrissa Merron at cbmerron@verizon.net with the hours you are able to work.
THANK YOU!
