"The Transition Network (TTN)…is the only organization I know that zeroes in on the needs of successful women as they enter a new and productive transition in their lives…Now they have developed an invaluable handbook that spells out the challenges along the way, along with solid advice about how to meet them.”

"Boomers are continuing to pioneer each stage of life—in the next decade a huge number of women will be making a work-related transition from a lifetime career to whatever comes next. They will need sage advice and the community of like-minded women to ensure that their transition is a positive one. This book from The Transition Network provides a valuable orientation to this process; it is rich in practical advice and inspiration stemming from the stories of women who have just recently journeyed through and navigated this complex stage of their lives."

""Smart Women Don't Retire - They Break Free...comments from Dr. Eileen Hoffman" - Dr. Eileen Hoffman, Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine, NYU, women's health specialist and gender-based medicine pioneer

"TTN is helping me get organized" - Sally Dougan

New York City member Sally Dougan has become involved in a peer group of “Creative Organizers", initiated by Arline Newman and spawned from an Autumn special event on clutter and organization issues presented by TTN Member and Professional Organizer/Consultant Roxanne Lorch.

Sally explains that that “We bonded under the banner of needing organizing help, and we represent all models of people with issues around time management, task management, office organization, home organization management, paper and other clutter management. I am the card-carrying ADDer in the group, and want to help spread the word about effective tactics and resources.”

She adds, “Given our issues you can imagine the challenge of actually getting the whole group together to meet! But we are rising to it well.”

Sally's award-winning photograph, Spider Mum, is displayed above.  Photography is just one of Sally's MANY hobbies.
"A cheerful variety of opinions" - Katherine Davis Fishman

The biggest transition for me in the past few years has been getting used to having less work to do, both because of changes in the publishing world and as a natural consequence of being older than most magazine and book editors.

I joined TTN last year after having heard about it from a member whom I met on a tour of Turkey. Not surprisingly (on reflection) it turned out that quite a few women I knew from different places (including my favorite editor) were in the organization.

At my first meeting, there was a film about women’s reactions to their aging faces, and after seeing it we divided into small discussion groups. What appealed to me was the cheerful variety of opinions, the women who did or didn’t work at looking youthful, the ones who said their face lifts were magical and the ones who would never in a million years have face lifts.
