Joining a TTN committee is a great way for any member -- new ones included -- to meet new people, use your talents and have some fun.
If you're interested in any of the committees listed below, please contact the chair to learn more. If you have an idea for a committee that doesn't exist today, let us know at info@thetransitionnetwork.org
Serves the various needs of our
members and offers new initiatives as the needs
of TTN members change. We are responsible for contacting new members and
helping them to become integrated into the TTN community. As one step in that process, we
hold brief informational gatherings for new members at the end of
each monthly meeting.
We
also lead the membership renewal campaign, sponsor volunteer
recognition events, and are developing new ways to connect with other
organizations to increase our visibility and membership. If you are
interested in joining, please contact one of our co-chairs, Jane Lattes
jflattes@yahoo.com
or Linda Sicher lsicher@aol.com.
Peer
Groups are a unique benefit of TTN and are the heart of the
organization. Our committee organizes and launches new Peer Groups;
facilitates Peer Groups initiated by members; organizes quarterly
meetings of Peer Group Liaisons (appointed by each Peer Group) to
exchange ideas and information; and maintains the Peer Group
section of the TTN website. We also sponsored
TTN's "Ideas Into Action" initiative, an opportunity
for members to advocate for issues of importance to women.
If
you would like to join our committee, form a new Peer Group or have
questions about joining an existing group, please contact
co-chair Elissa Williams at elissaswilliams@yahoo.com
If you want to add to or change a Peer Group listing on the New York
website, please contact co-chair Eleanor Dienstag at efoa@usa.net
Creates programs for the monthly TTN membership meetings, which address the many interests and issues of women in transition. The committee would like to new volunteers who are interested in developing programs that will appeal to our diverse membership. Interested members should contact Barbara Rosen bjrosen56@yahoo.com.
tech The Tech Committee members stay on top of all things technical with these objectives: to spiff up our members' technology skills; make them tech savvy at home and in business; and give them a comfort zone in word processing skills, digital photography expertise, the latest research techniques and how to buy and sell on eBay. We intend to offer the following classes beginning in late September:
NEW! Photography as Art: How to Take Better Pictures – Viewing museum-quality photographs, you will learn: why these are considered art; gain an understanding of the several basic guidelines for taking great photographs; and then discuss your photos in class.
NEW! Social Networking Media - Facebook, LinkedIn, MySpace, Twitter, GoodReads, Yelp, bookmarking sites like de-lici-ous and digg, RSS feeds - What are these all about? More importantly, how useful might they be to you? Whether you are just curious, want to stay ahead of the curve, or think you might actually use any or all of these sites, you will find this new class both stimulating and informative
Basic Digital Camera so you can learn what all the buttons do on your point-and-shoot camera in order to, literally, put the technology at your fingertips
Beyond-the-Basics Digital Photography – will show you how to manage, share, crop and do basic touchups, create albums, email, upload to the Web, and so on, using Google’s fabulous, free Picasa program
Intro to Photoshop - For those who are ready to take a leap into the exciting world of digital imaging, you will learn how to use Photoshop’s tools. The class will focus on enhancing your photos using, levels, curves, layers, histogram, and compositing techniques..
Buying and Selling on eBay - Learn what to include in your ads, how to price what you want to sell, how to research what you want to buy, how to place bids, and a myriad of other things that make this class a veritable font of information
We are looking forward with great anticipation to our new “season” and hope that you are as excited as we are with these choices. As always, we welcome any comments or suggestions. Until then, enjoy your summer!

To develop the financial literacy of the TTN community, this committee presents specialized workshops and events with expert speakers and offers financial planning resources via the TTN website. Members do not have to have a financial background. We are looking for people who want to develop programs. We only meet once every 3 months and talk on the phone once a month. Some of the activities include: (1) Interviewing prospective speakers; (2) writing a blurb for the website; (3) Following up with the TTN office on the event; and (4) introducing the speaker. This is not an opportunity for those seeking potential clients or other business contacts. Contact: Marion Schultheis, marschulth@aol.com, or Marilyn Stetar, stetarmarilyn@aol.com.
